Cervical cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors that threatens women's life and health seriously.Folate is an essential substance for the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM),which is the most important provider of methyl in the body.It is widely involved in DNA methylation in the body and is closely related to the occurrence and progression of tumors.Recent studies have shown that folate deficiency plays a synergistic role in the carcinogenesis of cervical cancer by regulating abnormal methylation of DNA,which has attracted more and more attention from scholars.This article reviews the role of folate and DNA methylation in cervical carcinogenesis in order to seek new breakthroughs in the development of preventive drugs or targeted therapy for cervical cancer.
