Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the relationship between ABO blood group distribution and colorectal cancer risk.Methods:2 333 cases of colorectal cancer patients in Liaoning Cancer Hospital were selected from LinkDoc database (LinkDoc Data),and 36 124 cases of patients from another class III A hospital in this region were selected as control group.The risk of colorectal cancer was retrospectively analyzed based on ABO blood group.OR values of each blood group for patients with colorectal cancer were compared with the all other patients in control group to determine the risk of tumor in different ABO blood group.Results:Among the 2 333 patients with colorectal cancer,there were 663 patients with type A (28.42%),689 patients with type AB (29.53%),721 patients with type B (30.90%),and 260 patients with type O (11.14%).Compared with the control group,the risk of type AB colorectal cancer was higher than that of non-AB colorectal cancer (OR=3.54,95%CI =3.219~3.893),and the risk of type O colorectal cancer was lower than that of non-O colorectal cancer (OR=0.299,95%CI =0.262 ~ 0.341).Conclusion:The distribution of ABO blood group and control group in patients with colorectal cancer has obvious different distribution of ABO blood group.AB blood group might have a higher risk of developing colorectal cancer,and patients in type O blood group might have a lower risk to develop colorectal cancer.Although there could be regional effects for blood group distribution,blood type may be a risk factor for colorectal cancer occurred.AB blood type in this region population should be focused on colorectal cancer screening.
