Abstract:
Objective:To evaluate the relationship between Thr241Met polymorphism of X-ray repair cross-complementing group 3 (XRCC3) gene and gastric cancer susceptibility.Methods:The relevant published studies were retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chinese Science and Technology Periodicals Data,Wan Fang databases,PubMed and Cochrane Library with computer.The statistical analysis was conducted by the Stata 12.0 software.Odd ratio (OR) and 95%confidence interval (CI) for XRCC3 Thr241Met polymorphism and gastric cancer were calculated.Results:The Meta-analysis included 12 case-control studies.Although our Meta-analysis indicated null association of XRCC3 gene rs861539 polymorphism between gastric cancer patients and controls under gross effect,the source of controls and whether conform to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.Stratified analysis by ethnicity demonstrated a significant association in Asians under recessive model (MM vs MT+TT:OR=2.59,95%CI:1.98~3.39,P<0.001),allelic model (M vs T:OR=1.57,95%CI:1.05~2.35,P=0.028) and homozygous model (MM vs TT:OR=3.39,95%CI:2.17~5.31,P<0.001).Conclusion:The XRCC3 gene Thr241Met polymorphism was associated with the risk for gastric cancer in Asian populations.
