Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the relationship between epidermal growth factor (EGF) polymorphism and environmental factors and the susceptibility to renal cell carcinoma (RCC).Methods:Using the case-control study method,a total of 67 patients with newly diagnosed RCC as case group were selected from the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University and Inner Mongolia People's Hospital.The control group included 67 healthy individuals who had undergone physical examinations at the same hospitals.The patients in the case group and the control group were investigated with a unified questionnaire.The genotype of EGF G61A was detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP),and the distribution frequency of genotype and allele was analyzed.Single factor and multiple factor Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the relationship between EGF polymorphism and environmental factors and the susceptibility to RCC.Results:The distribution of genotype frequency and allele frequency in case group and control group had no statistical significance (P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the risk of RCC between different genotypes (P>0.05).Meat-based diet and animal oil consumption were risk factors for RCC,and education level was related to RCC.Conclusion:This study does not suggest that the G61A polymorphism of the EGF gene is associated with genetic predisposition in RCC.
