Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the incidence of depression and anxiety in breast cancer chemotherapy patients and their influencing factors, and to study the association between anxiety and depression and chemotherapy side effects. Methods:This study retrospectively collected breast cancer patients who were hospitalized for surgery and chemotherapy in department of glandular surgery of our hospital from February 2020 to February 2023 as the study subjects, and used self-designed general data questionnaires, anticancer drug toxicity and adverse reactions criteria (WHO),adverse event general terminology standard (CTCAE) version 5.0,and hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) to conduct questionnaires. The independent risk factors affecting depression and anxiety in postoperative chemotherapy patients with breast cancer surgery,as well as the association between anxiety and depression and chemotherapy side effects were analyzed. Results:Among the 141 breast cancer patients, there were 72 patients (51.06%) with anxiety and 61 patients (43.26%) with depression.High literacy, heavier financial burden and total mastectomy were independent risk factors for breast cancer with anxiety or depression.Anxiety scores were positively correlated with diarrhea, oral mucositis,pain,hand-foot syndrome and elevated indirect bilirubin (P<0.05).Depression scores were positively correlated with diarrhea,hand-foot syndrome, elevated indirect bilirubin and elevated urea (P<0.05).Conclusion:Chemotherapy patients for breast cancer have a high incidence of depression and anxiety, and are affected by the patient's education level, economic level and surgical modalities.Anxiety and depression scores are associated with chemotherapy side effects. In clinical work, medical staff can focus on high-risk groups suffering from anxiety or depression through the general characteristics of patients, and take effective psychological interventions to reduce the occurrence of negative emotions such as anxiety and depression, improve the quality of life of patients, and improve their prognosis.
