Abstract:
Glutamine catabolism plays an critical role for growth and proliferation of many cancer cells by providing energy and metabolites for the maintenance of mitochondrial functions and macromolecular synthesis.Silent information regulator two 4(Sirt4) is one of the seven mammalian sirtuins and located in the cellular mitochondria which can regulate many important biological processes, such as stress resistance, genome stability, energy metabolism and aging. In recent years,Sirt4 has been reported to function as a tumor suppressor by regulating glutamine catabolism. In this study, research progresses in the field of Sirt4 and malignant neoplasms are reviewed in the last few years.
