Abstract:
Objective:To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of elemene in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion of lung cancer.Methods:The databases of PubMed,Cochrane Library,EMbase,SCI,Chinese Academic Journal Full Database,and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database were searched from the establishment of the library to March 2017.Randomized controlled studies on the efficacy and safety of elemene in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion of lung cancer were included.The quality of the included studies was evaluated using the quality evaluation criteria of the Cochrane Handbook version 5.1.0,and the Review Manager 5.3 software was used for data analysis.Results:A total of 15 articles were included,and including 1 004 patients.Results of Meta-analysis showed that elemene significantly improved the short term efficacy of malignant pleural effusion(RR=1.36,95%CI:1.15~1.60,P=0.000 3).Subgroup results showed that the effective rate of elemene in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion was significantly higher than that of the cisplatin group(RR=1.46,95%CI:1.14~1.87,P=0.003).Meanwhile,elemene did not significantly increase the incidence of chest pain and fever and other adverse reactions(P>0.05).Conclusion:Intrapleural injection of elemene can improve the treatment efficiency of malignant pleural effusion with good safety in lung cancer.However,due to the poor quality of the included studies,the conclusion still needs to be confirmed by more large sample randomized controlled trials.
