Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the expression and effect of FOXC2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).Methods:The expression of FOXC2 was investigated in ESCC tissues and matched adjacent tissues.Furthermore,the relationship between expression level of FOXC2 and clinical features,including gender,age,tumor location,tumor size,differentiation,T stage and lymph node metastasis,was analyzed.The relationship of FOXC2 expression influenced on prognosis of patients was explored.Results:Expression of FOXC2 was significantly higher in ESCC tissues than matched adjacent tissues by PCR (P=0.005).Positivity of FOXC2 staining was 60.47% in ESCC,and there was significant association between FOXC2 and tumor sizes (P<0.001),T stage (P=0.008),lymph node metastasis (P=0.005).The 5-year survival rate of patients with expression of FOXC2 was lower than that of patients with negative expression.Furthermore,expression of FOXC2 was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival.Conclusion:In conclusion,this study indicated that expression of FOXC2 was significant higher in ESCC tissues,and it was closely related to the metastasis of tumor.FOXC2 may be a new marker for diagnosis and treatment of esophageal squamous carcinoma.
