Abstract:
Objective:To study the expression of Livin and it's relationship with expression of Bcl-2 in primary lung cancer. Methods:The protein expression of Livin and Bcl-2 gene in paraffin specimens of lung cancer and specimens of normal lung tissues were detected by SP immunohistochemistry. Results:Livin and Bcl-2 protein expression showed high level in lung cancer specimens and were negative staining in the normal lung tissues. The positive rate of Livin protein expression in male lung cancer specimens(62.96%)was higher than that in female lung tissues(40.00%,P<0.05).The positive rates of Livin and Bcl-2 protein expression in specimens with lymph node metastasis(78.95% and 68.42%)were higher than in tissues without lymph node metastasis(36.36% and 27.27%,P<0.05).The protein expression of Bcl-2 gene in squamous cell carcinoma lung tissues(58.82%)was higher than that in adenocarcinoma lung tissues(20.45%).The positive rates of expressions of Livin and Bcl-2 protein were higher in patients smoking index ≥400 than patients with <400,the differences were significant(P<0.05).Livin protein expression in lung cancer had no obvious relationship with the grade and clinical stage.Livin protein expression was positively related to Bcl-2 protein expression in primary lung cancer. Conclusion:Aberrant expression may be a new target for diagnosis and gene treatment of primary lung cancer. The aberrant expression of Livin and apoptosis related gene Bcl-2 may play synergetic roles in process of carcinogenesis of lung cancer.
