Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the expression of PKP2 (Plakophilin 2) in epithelial ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma tissues,and to analyze its correlation with the clinicopathological features and prognosis of ovarian cancer patients.Methods:Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of PKP2 in tissues of epithelial ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma (76 cases),tissues of epithelial borderline tumor of ovary (23 cases),tissues of epithelial benign tumor of ovary (15 cases),and normal ovarian tissues (15 cases).Its correlation with clinicopathological features and prognosis of patients with epithelial ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma was analysed.Results:PKP2 was mainly expressed in nucleus,cytoplasm and membrane.The positive expression rate of PKP2 in epithelial ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma (86.84%) was significantly higher than that in epithelial borderline tumor of ovary (43.48%),epithelial benign tumor of ovary (26.67%) and normal ovarian tissues (20.00%) (all P<0.05).In epithelial ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma,PKP2 was an independent risk factor for overall survival and prognosis (P<0.05),but had no significant correlation with FIGO stage,degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P>0.05).Conclusion:The expression of PKP2 is increased in epithelial ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma tissues,and may be a potential prognostic marker for ovarian cancer.
