Abstract:
Objective:To explore the relationship between the expression of heat shock protein 27 (HSP27) and the invasive and metastatic potential of human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cell lines.Methods:Scratch assays were performed to identify the differences and changes of invasive and metastatic ability in ESCC cell lines.Western blot were used to examine the differences of HSP27 expression in ESCC cell lines.Lentivirus infection technique was employed to up-regulate the expression of HSP27 in highly metastatic cells.Results:The invasive and metastatic potentials of EC9706-H and EC109-H cells were higher than the matched EC9706-L and EC109-L cells.The expression levels of HSP27 in EC9706-H and EC109-H cells were lower than the matched EC9706-L and EC109-L cells.The invasive and metastatic potentials of EC9706-H and EC109-H cells were significantly decreased after overexpression of HSP27.Conclusion:The expression level of HSP27 may be inversely correlated to the invasive and metastatic behavior of ESCC cell lines and up-regulating the expression of HSP27 can inhibit the invasion and metastasis ability of ESCC.
