Abstract:
Objective:To explore the clinical features and MRI features of basal cell adenoma(BCA) in the parapharyngeal space,and to increase our understanding of this disease.Methods:6 cases of BCA in the parapharyngeal space which were confirmed by surgery or puncture pathology were analyzed retrospectively,and their clinical and imaging data were summarized.Result:Among the 6 patients,there was 1 male and 5 females,aged 43~89 years old,with a median age of 64 years old.The average maximum diameter was about 3.2 cm.The lesion had clear boundaries,regular morphology,and the parapharyngeal fat space was compressed and displaced inward,with a "C" shape facing outward.All cases were accompanied by cystic changes,with one case accompanied by slight bleeding.Enhanced scanning of the solid components of the tumor showed significant and sustained enhancement.Conclusion:Middle aged and elderly female patients have found benign tumors with regular morphology,clear boundaries,and cystic changes in the anterior space of the styloid process.We need to consider the possibility of BCA.
