Abstract:
Objective:To explore the association of polymorphisms in miR26a-1 (rs7372209,C>T) and miR-612 (rs12803915,G>A) and genetic susceptibility to lung cancer in people living in Hainan Province.Methods:A case-control study was applied.With the informed consent of the research subjects,a questionnaire survey was conducted and peripheral venous blood was collected to extract DNA.Genotypes were analyzed with a method of the SNaPShot.Statistical methods such as the chi-square test,Logistic regression analysis,were used to analyze the correlation between the polymorphisms of the two loci and the risk of lung cancer.Results:A total of 142 cases and 211 controls were recruited.The two groups were similar in terms of age,gender,and family history of tumor (P=0.258,0.143,0.688).The prevalence of smoking and drinking was significantly higher in cases than controls (P=0.002,0.023).After adjusting for confounding factors,the risk of lung cancer for the individuals with CT genotype and TT genotype at rs7372209 was much lower than CC genotype carriers (OR=0.58,95%CI=0.37~0.90,P=0.016),which was more pronounced in non-smoking(OR=0.50,95%CI=0.26~0.96,P=0.038),and non-drinking (OR=0.52,95%CI=0.31~0.86,P=0.011) subjects.Conclusion:In the miR26a-1 rs7372209 variant,T allele acts as a protective factor for the lung cancer in local people from Hainan,particularly in non-smokers and non-drinkers.
