Abstract:
Precise diagnosis and treatment of tumors poses a challenging issue in global medical field. There is significant research and transformation value to find safe and effective drugs and biomedical materials for cancer treatment.Peptide medical materials have emerged as a research hotspot in biomedical science in recent years, which have shown great tremendous potential in tumor treatment due to their specific targeting, weak side effects, outstanding controllability.Various peptides have been discovered to possess antitumor properties and have been utilized in treatment so far, among which research on anticancer peptides(ACPs) activating the mitochondrial-induced apoptotic pathway is most extensive. However, part of the ACPs exhibit drawbacks such as susceptibility to degradation and low efficiency for cell uptake. Therefore, the modification of the ACPs and improvement of the treatment efficiency have become a research hotspot in the biomedical field in recent years. In this paper, the modification strategies of the common ACPs targeting mitochondria were reviewed, and the future development of ACPs targeting mitochondria was prospected. It might provide new materials and solutions for the modification research of the ACPs targeting mitochondria in the future.
