Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the role of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratio(PLR) in the prediction of non-sentinel lymph node metastasis (NSLN) in breast cancer.Methods:Records of patients with invasive breast cancer who underwent SLN biopsy at Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital between January 2018 and December 2018 were noted retrospectively.Data on patient demographics,tumor variables,NLR and PLR were collected and factors for non-SLN metastasis were analyzed using multivariate Logistic regression.Results:A total of 147 patients with a mean age of (52.1±10.5) years were included.Univariate analysis showed that tumor size,SLN positive number,SLN positive-total ratio ≥0.5,NLR and PLR were related with NSLN metastasis.Multivariate Logistic regressive analysis showed that NLR≥2.28（P=0.008,OR 7.392,95%CI:1.70~32.21）,SLN positive-total ratio ≥0.5 (P=0.001,OR 27.673,95%CI:4.10~186.60) were the independent predictive factors of NSLN metastasis.The AUC for NLR was 0.753 with an optimal cut-off of 2.28.The AUC for PLR was 0.695 with an optimal cut-off of 135.4.The NSLN metastasis rates of patients with 0,1,and 2 independent predictors were 15.4%,50%,and 100%.Conclusion:Both the NLR and PLR are associated with NSLN metastasis in breast cancer.Pre-surgical NLR is a useful diagnostic tool for predicting NSLN metastasis.
