Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the effect of carvacrol on a disintegrin and metalloprotease 9 (ADAM9) expression in human oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).Methods:Western blot analysis was used to detect the ADAM9 expression of in OSCC (UM-SCC-23 and Tca-8113)-carvacrol treated cell lines.UM-SCC-23 and Tca-8113 cells were exposed to vehicle alone as control or 40 μmol/L carvacrol for 24 h,then cells were harvested and total RNA were extracted.The ADAM9 level were measured with real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Results:Carvacrol significantly inhibited the expression of ADAM9 in OSCC cell lines.Conclusion:These results provide novel insights into the mechanism of carvacrol and suggest potential therapeutic strategies for human OSCC.
