Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the expression of basic transcription factor 3 (BTF3) and its correlation with PINCH in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues.Methods:The expression of BTF3 in 73 pairs of OSCC carcinomas and adjacent normal tissues (45 cases with lymph node metastasis) was detected by immunohistochemistry.The expression of BTF3 and PINCH in OSCC cancer and adjacent normal tissues was analyzed by the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database to verify the results of immunohistochemistry.To analyze the relationship between BTF3 expression and clinicopathological parameters such as age,gender,tumor differentiation and lymph node metastasis of patients and its correlation with PINCH expression in OSCC.Results:The results of immunohistochemistry showed that the expression of BTF3 in OSCC cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues (60.27% vs 39.73%,P=0.013).TCGA database analysis showed that the positive expression rates of BTF3 and PINCH in OSCC cancer tissues were significantly higher than that of both in adjacent normal tissues.In OSCC,the positive expression rate of BTF3 in the lymph node metastasis group was significantly higher than that in the no lymph node metastasis group (71.11% vs 42.86%,P=0.016).The positive expression rate of BTF3 in the hypodifferentiated OSCC group was significantly higher than that in the highly differentiated OSCC group (71.43% vs 45.16%,P=0.023).BTF3 expression did not correlate with patient gender,age,tumour size and site (P>0.05).BTF3 and PINCH expression in OSCC were positively correlated (r=0.286,P=0.015).Conclusion:BTF3 is correlated with the tumorigenesis,development and lymph node metastasis of OSCC,and may be a potential molecular marker for determining the occurrence and development of OSCC and predicting lymph node metastasis,and its mechanism may be related to the positive synergistic effect of PINCH.
