Abstract:
The human microbiome is composed of microbes inside and on the surface of the body. The interaction between host and microorganisms affects many physiological processes and pathogenic factors. Most previous studies focused on the intestinal microbiome because of its richness and diversity. They found that it plays a vital role in the occurrence, development and treatment of malignant tumors, but little was known about the role of the microbiome in other parts of the body in tumors.Due to the development and application of 16S rRNA gene sequencing technology in the past decade, more and more scholars have found that intratumor bacteria are tumor type-specific in many types of tumors, and the local microbiome is also integral component of the tumor microenvironment.Furthermore, studies have shown that tumor-related microbiome may directly regulate the occurrence and progression of tumors and affect treatment efficacy. This article reviews the microbiome in tumor tissue and its effects on disease occurrence, development, diagnosis and treatment.
