Abstract:
Objective:To evaluate the sensitivity of delayed-enhanced MRI scan in diagnosing brain metastases after injection of contrast agent, and explore the best delay time.Methods:40 patients with brain metastases underwent T1WI axial enhancement scan, and then underwent two T1WI axial enhancement scans every 5 minutes.According to the time of enhancement, the patients were divided into instant enhancement group,5 min delayed enhancement group and 10 min delayed enhancement group. The number, volume and signal intensity ratio of brain metastases in the three groups of images were compared. Results:Among 40 patients, three groups showed 136,163,and 173 lesions, respectively. The median of the entire tumor volume in the three groups was 79.2 mm3,102.4 mm3,116.8 mm3.The tumor volume delayed by 5 min and 10 min was significantly larger than the tumor volume with immediate enhancement(P<0.000 1).The signal intensity ratio of the lesion was 0.16,0.19,0.20 in the three groups. The signal intensity ratio of the tumor enhancement part on the image delayed by 10 minutes was significantly greater than the signal intensity ratio of the tumor on the immediate enhancement image(P<0.05),but there is no significant difference between the images delayed by 5 min and 10 min(P=0.65).Conclusion:MRI-enhanced scan about 10 minutes after the injection of gadolinium contrast agent has high sensitivity in detecting metastases.
