Abstract:
Brain tumors can cause edema around the tumor.Edema is caused by the leakage of the blood-tumor barrier.When the brain cannot remove excess fluid,it is in the state of edema and develops further.The benefits of glucocorticoids during the perioperative period,including reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting,coordinating analgesia,and improving patient rehabilitation,have attracted people's attention.Glucocorticoids have been used in the treatment of brain edema around tumors for decades,and have achieved good results.Although there may be some potential side effects during the treatment,glucocorticoids are still used to treat brain edema.This article reviews the pathogenesis of peri-tumor brain edema and the possible principles and clinical effects of glucocorticoid therapy,and discusses its value in treatment.
