Abstract:
Objective:By employing the Grounded theory, our study concentrates on the self-perceived discrimination in lung cancer patients under the background of Chinese culture. Methods:In this study,"information saturation method" was used to determine the sample size. All participants received face-to-face and one-to-one semi-structured interviews, which were conducted on open question outlines. In addition, the data were encoded using the qualitative analysis software (NVivo 11 plus). Results:We approached a total of 32 patients,30 patients completed the entire study and 2 patients discontinued the study. All participants undergoing lung cancer presented a strong sense of self-perceived discrimination, which was expressed through three main themes (including stigmatization,self-denial and social avoidance) and seventeen sub-themes.Conclusion:Under the cultural background of China, the causes of self-perceived discrimination in lung cancer patients are complex with diverse forms.
