Abstract:
Multidrug resistance (MDR)is the main cause of chemotherapy failure in locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.The occurrence and development of MDR in nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a complex process involving multiple factors and pathways,but its mechanism is still unclear.Therefore,elucidating the molecular mechanism of MDR in nasopharyngeal carcinoma is conducive to finding sensitive targets for drug resistance,so as to improve the therapeutic effect.In recent years,the active components in traditional Chinese medicine as natural tumor MDR reversal agents have been the focus of research.In this paper,we discussed the molecular mechanism of MDR in nasopharyngeal carcinoma from the aspects of drug efflux,cell apoptosis,DNA damage repair,autophagy and EMT,detoxification enzyme activity,pyroptosis and tumor microenvironment,and reviewed the research progress of MDR reversal in nasopharyngeal carcinoma by the active components in traditional Chinese medicine.
