Abstract:
As a key component of local treatment for patients with chest malignant tumors, radiation therapy can effectively improve the local control rate and patients' long-term survival. However,in the process of radiotherapy, due to the anatomic factor, the heart as a vital organ at risk is irradiated inevitably.Radiation-related heart disease had become one of the main non-tumor death causes for patients who received thoracic radiotherapy.Radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD) has received more widespread attention in clinic and basic research.A great number of studies have been carried out to explore the pathogenesis and serum biomarkers,in order to interfere with RIHD as early as possible and then improve patients' quality of life and survival. This article reviewed the development of RIHD.
