Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the effect of KIF20A expression on the clinical features and prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma.Methods:The RNA-seq expression and clinical data of lung adenocarcinoma were downloaded from the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) from 515 lung adenocarcinoma patients and 59 controls.In addition,GSE10072 dataset was download from the GEO (Gene Expession Omnibus) as a validation set,including 58 lung adenocarcinoma patients and 49 controls.The high and low expression levels were distinguished by the median value of KIF20A mRNA expression (8.44).The correlation between KIF20A mRNA expression and clinicopathological features was evaluated by Chi-Square test.Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the relationship between clinical variables and lung adenocarcinoma prognosis.Cox proportional hazard model was used to explore the independent effect of KIF20A on the prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma.Results:The expression level of KIF20A in lung adenocarcinoma was higher than controls.The expression level of KIF20A mRNA was closely significantly related to age,tobacco smoking history,clinical stage,T and N stage(P<0.05),and no significant correlation with gender,race,residual tumor (P>0.05).Patients with high KIF20A expression exhibited poor prognosis compared with patients with low KIF20A expression.After correcting the covariates,KIF20A expression remained significantly associated with overall survival and disease-free survival (P<0.05).Conclusion:The expression level of KIF20A mRNA was significantly correlated with age,tobacco smoking history,clinical stage,T and N stage in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.KIF20A mRNA expression can be an independent risk factor for prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma patients.
