Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the value of external irradiation combined with californium-252 neutron intraliminal brachytherapy in recurrence esophageal carcinoma after radiotherapy.Methods:Total of 60 patients with recurrence esophageal carcinoma after radiotherapy were randomly divided into experimental group(external irradiation combined with californium-252 neutron intraliminal brachytherapy,30 ceases)and control group(external irradiation,30 cases).The response rate,1,2-year survival rate and adverse reaction occurrence rates were compared.Results:The response rate was 86.2%(25/29) in experimental group and 75.0%(21/28) in control group(P<0.05). The first 2 years survival rate were similarity in experimental group than those in control group,the diference was not significant(P>0.05).The adverse reaction was significantly higher in experimental group compared with control group in esophageal perforation and radioactive esophagitis(P<0.05).But the radioactive pneumonia was significantly higher in control group.Conclusion:The external irradiation combined with californium-252 neutron intraliminal brachytherapy is an effective therapy in recurrence esophageal carcinoma after radiotherapy,but esophageal perforation and radioactive esophagitis were higher.
